Microsoft Business Solutions accounting product line encompasses general accounting, Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The Supply Chain Management (SCM) system was originally written by a company from Findlay, Ohio, called Solomon Software. Solomon Software was purchased by Great Plains software in the mid-90’s. Great Plains software was purchased by Microsoft in April of 2001. Solomon Software developed a distribution accounting system that competed very strongly with our FAS throughout the 80’s and early 90’s. With Microsoft taking over the application this Solomon product has taken on many of the same features and similar batch transaction oriented design that our FAS system offered. This made the Solomon product, being offered by the Business Solutions division, a logical migration path for any of our existing customers who want to switch to the GUI environment.
